Program Description:


Funding your Study Abroad Program

KU Study Abroad can do personalized financial aid and scholarship advising for students.  Please visit 108 Lippincott Hall or call 785-864-3742 to set up an appointment.  KU students who qualify for financial aid in the form of Stafford and/or other loans, Federal Grants, and KU or outside scholarships may apply the aid to the cost of a study abroad program.  
 
KU Study Abroad supplemental scholarships are available to KU degree seeking students. Applications are available online. The scholarship application deadline is March 1 for Summer, March 15th for Fall and Academic Year programs and October 1 for Spring, Winter Break and Spring Break programs.

Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to complete several documents for each study abroad application.  Below is a list of documents that will need to be completed for an application. 

  • Academic Plan and Approval Form
  • Authorization to Release Student Information
  • Autobiography
  • Financial Aid Questionnaire
  • Official Transcript
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Student Conduct Verification
  • Two General Recommendations
  • Verification of Minimum GPA Requirement

I found that being immersed in a new culture was the most rewarding because I learned how to deal with new experiences that I had never encountered before. I learned how I adjust to new situations and how well I do under pressure. The opportunity to travel was also very rewarding. Singapore is in the center of Southeast Asia and it is very convenient and cheap to travel to other countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

My favorite part of this incredible journey was definitely the total immersion in a different culture. It was such an eye-opening experience and I learned just as much about myself as I did about the Singaporean lifestyle. It was the trip of a lifetime and I miss something different about the culture each and every day!

There was a lot of emphasis on personal studying, and weighted grades meant that you were competing with your peers. Being able to still achieve high grades in this competitive atmosphere felt very rewarding in the end.
