My favorite part of this program was gaining a perspective of a culture that is similar, yet vastly different to ours. Singapore is unique in the fact it is a cultural and historical melting pot to all the countries surrounding it but also very westernized in comparison. It is and has always been hub of Southeast Asia which is why it allowed for a wonderful look into an end product of cultural blending as well as many opportunities to travel to nearby countries.

There was a lot of emphasis on personal studying, and weighted grades meant that you were competing with your peers. Being able to still achieve high grades in this competitive atmosphere felt very rewarding in the end.

Study abroad gives you a great opportunity to grow up and figure out who you are. You are forced to make a whole new group of friends, plan your own trips and get aways, and there is no else to rely on but yourself. It is freeing and scary at the same time. In the end, it helps you really develop your identity and confidence in who you are as a person.
