I learned that, although my major isn't exactly business-oriented, having a specialization in anything can be beneficial to any company or organization - even if you can't see how that might be. For example, as a creative writing major I wasn't exactly sure what I would get out of our meetings with various companies, but I learned that my overall skills as a writer and a creative can play a significant role in a variety of departments. You don't know where you might fit in unless you make an effort to learn more and make connections.

I loved getting to travel for the first time semi-independently. I learned so much from the alumni and mentors we talked to throughout the week. I enjoyed the company of my peers as well, I learned a lot from them and their insights to working abroad.

My favorite part of this program was the fact that it was a professional trip. It was a realistic trip if you decide to move abroad. You work and then you go do what you want in your freetime. The trip allowed you to learn more about yourself and if living abroad is a true goal for you, for you to see what you would do while you are in the country of your choice. I appreciated mingling with former Jayhawks, because when you travel a lot, oftentimes, there aren't many people who know where you "come from". I appreciated talking with them because ti made me feel that the Jayhawk network is so wide and interested in being open.
