It is slightly daunting to move to another country for five months, but keep in mind that the Junior Year Program helps you the entire time. There were very few times that I had no idea what was happening or felt that I had no help.
Scott Allen Friesen, Academic Year 2014 Participant
My favorite part of this program was simply being able to fully integrate myself into a foreign culture totally different from that of my own. I was constantly surrounded by so many walks of of life and the knowledge learned from these people and their cultures was invaluable.

I thought the best part was participating in classes at the university level, and not just in the international office, since I got to meet so many new Germans and that's when I learned the most.

The University of Bonn offered excursions to its participants in cities and sites all over Germany without any extra cost to the JYP-it was all included. The opportunities to be lead through Germany by Germans were an amazing part of the program and it allowed me to see and understand the country in a way that would have been muddled up by a guidebook. Some of my favorite memories from the program involve evenings in a the parks and gardens with Germans and workers from the international office.
