Program Description:


Funding your Study Abroad Program

KU Study Abroad can do personalized financial aid and scholarship advising for students.  Please visit 108 Lippincott Hall or call 785-864-3742 to set up an appointment.  KU students who qualify for financial aid in the form of federal and/or other loans, federal grants, and KU or outside scholarships may apply the aid to the cost of a study abroad program.  
 
KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement Scholarships are available to KU degree-seeking students. Applications are available online. The scholarship application deadline is February 15 for Summer, March 1 for Fall and Academic Year programs, and October 1 for Spring, Winter Break, and Spring Break programs.

Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to complete several documents for each study abroad application.  Below is a list of documents that will need to be completed for an application.

        a. Statement of Purpose
        b. Verification of Minimum GPA Requirement
        c. Unofficial Transcript or Advising Report
        d. 1 Recommendation
        e. Authorization to Release Student Information
        f. Student Conduct Verification
        g. Financial Aid Questionnaire

Summer 2023 Participant
Take advantage of every free moment you get. Obviously, take the time you need to be a functioning human being (sleep, eat, relax, etc.), but take advantage of everything! Germany is beautiful, the public transportation is marvelous, and the country is your oyster.

Getting to immerse myself in a new culture was by far the most rewarding part of the program. We could learn what we learned back at KU but being able to apply our knowledge to the history of Berlin was such a unique experience. I also really enjoyed meeting Germans and getting the first-hand account of the history. Specifically, hearing two East Germans speak about their life growing up in East Berlin was very rewarding to me.

Most transactions in Germany are handled with cash rather than credit card. Lots of places don't even have card readers, so it's a good idea to always have cash on you!
