Program Description:

Get the internship that launches your career!
KU Study Abroad is proud to partner with CIEE to offer the Summer Global Internship program - an 8-week long, full-time internship opportunity open to all majors and in over 40 locations worldwide. Through a personalized placement process, CIEE staff will identify and match you with an employment opportunity in your area of interest, giving you the chance to develop skills and experience in your professional field while living abroad. Housing, airport pickups, and cultural excursions are provided by CIEE, and their faculty teach an internship course that accompanies the internship experience. If you've wanted to study abroad and also hoped for an internship before graduating, this is a great opportunity to do both.

Funding your Study Abroad Program

Program Reviews:
Summer 2025 Participant
Some of the most rewarding parts of this internship and study abroad experience was understanding how to set goals for myself in a hybrid environment, bur also advocate for what I want to gain from this experience and improve during my time there. I was able to learn and develop multiple hard and soft skills, while also learning more about different areas of expertise in the industry.

Summer 2022 Participant
From this program, I learned that it is okay to be selfish. I mean that although I was there for an internship and there to work, I was also in a different country, so it's okay to want to have fun, and it's okay to want to go out and experience new things. In the beginning, I was focused on working and making sure I created a good impression of myself, which is okay. Still, I realized I was missing out on creating memories with the other students. So go to work and do the responsibilities you need to, but also make time to have fun and explore the country. Time went slow initially, but as the program ended, it was very bittersweet, and I wanted to cherish every second I had left with my friends.

I think (depending on the type of internship you did) the work results were the most rewarding part of the program. Being able to make an impact in a different global workplace is a feeling that is incomparable.
