IMPORTANT DATE INFORMATION: In addition to completing the scholarship application by the deadline listed above, students must also have started a study abroad program application through KU Study Abroad to be considered for this scholarship. Scholarship applications will be reviewed and notifications will be sent by the KU Department of Psychology.

Program Description:

Cheryle A. & Burton MacKenzie Study Abroad Scholarship for Psychology Majors

Funding provided by the generous support of Cheryle A. & Burton MacKenzie. This scholarship (approximately $1,000 for semester programs or $500 for summer programs) is open to Psychology majors who are participating in a semester-long study abroad experience or the summer Culture and Psychology in London faculty-led program. For semester applicants, preference given to students studying at the National University of Singapore, University of Wollongong, University of New South Wales, Danish Institute for Study Abroad-Copenhagen, University of Birmingham, University of Leicester, University of Kent, or University of Exeter.  Awards based on merit and financial need. 

Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to submit the following documents. Applicants who have not begun an application for a study abroad program will not be eligible for the scholarship.  Please indicate in the personal statement/letter of motivation any extenuating circumstances you would like the committee to consider in evaluating your application, including financial hardship or other challenges you have faced.

  • Unofficial Transcript or Advising Report
All scholarship recipients will be expected to write a thank-you note.
