Program Description:

The Joan Fowler Kessler Watkins Women Study Abroad Scholarship is designed to provide funding to financially needy study abroad students living in Watkins Scholarship Hall.

One $500 scholarship will be awarded annually.

The recipient must:

  1. live in Watkins Scholarship Hall both before and after her study abroad program.
  2. have completed foreign language coursework at KU relevant to her study abroad program
  3. have applied to a summer, semester or longer study abroad program in a country in which English is not the primary language
  4. have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the term abroad and have financial need as determined by the FAFSA

Students meeting the above criteria who plan to study abroad in the Academic Year, Fall or Spring are encouraged to apply.

Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to submit the following documents. Applicants who have not begun an application for a study abroad program will not be eligible for the scholarship.

  • Unofficial Transcript or Advising Report
