Program Description:


CIEE Global Institutes Scholarship 

In an effort to support the Institute of International Education’s (IIE) Generation Study Abroad initiative, CIEE will award 4 grants per year ($4,000 or $6,000 each) for the CIEE Global Institutes (3 blocks) in Berlin, Buenos AiresCape TownCopenhagenLondon, Madrid, Paris, Rio de JaneiroRome, and Santiago.  This scholarship is open to KU degree-seeking undergraduate students and if selected the grants will be awarded as program fee reductions to the student's CIEE bill.

University of Kansas students must apply directly to the corresponding CIEE Program as well as begin the OSA SIP-Student Initiated Program Application for Germany, OSA SIP-Student Initiated Program Application for Africa, OSA SIP-Student Initiated Program Application for England, OSA SIP-Student Initiated Program Application for Spain, OSA SIP- Student Initiated Program Application for France, or OSA SIP-Student Initiated Program for Italy in order to be eligible for this scholarship.

Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to submit the following documents online after they click the 'Apply Now' button:

  • Scholarship Personal Statement Essay addressing why you choose to study abroad and how this CIEE program will help you fulfill your academic, career, and personal goals.

  • Unofficial Transcript or Advising Report

Study Abroad Outreach Service Requirement

Scholarship award recipients will be required to complete a Study Abroad Outreach Service requirement.  The requirement can be completed abroad or upon return and will include assisting the Office of Study Abroad with outreach and promotions.  Service examples include: submitting a minimum of 30 high-quality photos focusing on campus, classrooms, housing, or region; submitting a high-quality video that explores some aspect of study abroad experiences; submitting an article and photos for Jayhawks Abroad and Jayhawk Planet publications; or write at least 4 blog posts for the Jayhawks Abroad blog.
