Only KU students who have applied for the Early Start program plus a semester or academic year at the Universidad de Costa Rica are eligible for the Early Start Program Scholarship.
Funding provided with the generous support of Richard Paegelow, KU alumnus and former participant of the Universidad de Costa Rica study abroad program. Students who will participate in the Early Start program in conjunction withtheir semester at the Universidad de Costa Rica are eligible for the award. Awards are designed to assist KU undergraduate students who can benefit from the month-long Early Start program to strengthen language and cultural adaptation skills.
The scholarship totals $1,200 which covers most of the expenses (tuition, room and board, on-site assistance, and an excursion) connected with studying in the Escuela de Filologia for the month.
Students must have already applied online to the Universidad de Costa Rica program (Early Start terms Fall, Spring or the Academic Year) before completing the Early Start Program Scholarship online application.
Please contact Mari Keyser in the Office of Study Abroad if you have any questions regarding this scholarship.
All applicants will be required to submit the following documents. Applicants who have not begun an application for a study abroad program will not be eligible for the scholarship.
