Program Description:

Funding your Study Abroad Program

KU Study Abroad can do personalized financial aid and scholarship advising for students.  Please visit 108 Lippincott Hall or call 785-864-3742 to set up an appointment.  KU students who qualify for financial aid in the form of Stafford and/or other loans, Federal Grants, and KU or outside scholarships may apply the aid to the cost of a study abroad program.  
 
KU Study Abroad supplemental scholarships are available to KU degree seeking students. Applications are available online. The scholarship application deadline is March 1 for Summer, March 15th for Fall and Academic Year programs and October 1 for Spring, Winter Break and Spring Break programs.

Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to complete several documents for each study abroad application.  Below is a list of documents that will need to be completed for an application.  
 

  • Authorization to Release Student Information
  • Financial Aid Questionnaire
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Student Conduct Verification
  • Unofficial Transcript or Advising Report
  • Verification of Minimum GPA Requirement

Winter Break 2026 Participant
Learning about architecture, both historical and contemporary, from the East, as the KU architecture program often highlights Western works.

Winter Break 2024 Participant
One of the things I learned during the program was that you should never be relaxing at your hotel. There is always something to do or something to explore, and the few weeks that you are studying abroad will go by faster than you think. Make the most of your experience!

I gained lots of knowledge in this program. I think learning in our courses here at KU is great, but getting to be physically at the buildings, seeing how their systems keep them functioning, that adds a lot of depth to the learning experience.
