Program Description:


Funding your Study Abroad Program

Study Abroad & Global Engagement (SAGE) offers personalized financial aid and scholarship advising for students. Schedule an in-person or virtual financial aid and scholarships advising appointment. KU students who qualify for financial aid in the form of federal and/or other loans, federal grants, and KU or outside scholarships may apply the aid to the cost of a study abroad program.

KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement Scholarships are available to KU degree-seeking students.

Applications are available online.

The scholarship application deadline is February 15 for Summer, March 1 for Fall and Academic Year programs, and October 1 for Spring, Winter Break, and Spring Break programs.

Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to complete several documents for each study abroad application.  Below is a list of documents that will need to be completed for an application.

  • Academic Plan and Approval Form
  • Authorization to Release Student Information
  • Autobiography
  • Financial Aid Questionnaire
  • One General Recommendation and One Language Recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Student Conduct Verification
  • Unofficial Transcript or Advising Report
  • Verification of Minimum GPA Requirement

The University of Trento had a wide array of international students from all over the globe, challenging me to make friends outside of the United States. I learned about countless different cultures and truly immersed myself in the perspective-gaining aspects of study abroad.

Being open to new perspectives is essential for any field of work, and studying abroad challenged me to see situations through the eyes of varying cultures. It also forced me to become independent and confident in my ability to handle challenging situations.

Challenging myself to be in a new country, with no one I knew, and where everyone spoke a different language was very intimidating at first, but it helped me grow more confident in myself and my ability to handle difficult situations.
