Visual Art in Spain and Morocco : Reviews (Chaouen)

Creating art with porfessional/master artisans and scholars was incredible. They clearly had a wealth of knowledge, and were able to help us as students get a basic handle on their craft and appreciate the skill it takes to be a master.

My favorite part was getting to explore all of the incredible museums, cathedrals, and landmarks! We also got to meet some incredible people, and eat some fantastic food!

I loved that we got to go to two separate countries and see their influences on each other historically, culturally, and artistically.

I really enjoyed interacting with the other art students/professionals in Morocco, because it provided valuable insight about the meaningful and fascinating differences between art communities across the world.

Definitely being able to say I've been there! Also being able to connect current things I see while in America to my time in abroad. I went to a museum and I saw a piece of art that looked very similar to the art that I saw abroad, and I was able to talk about it and make educated opinions about it.

I gained a lot of valuable life experiences being pushed outside of my comfort zone. The benefit to a short group program is the community of peers it provides, and the small dose of challenges. It was a great warm-up to future travel abroad.

This program helped me in more ways than I thought imaginable, from having a better understanding of Spain and Morocco's culture, to the education on the rich history of each place.

I learned that you have to be patient with others. Not everyone will have had your experiences and not everyone will be as kind or as generous or as interested in the subject being talked about as you are. Definitely being able to mind your own business and be patient with those who don't see eye to eye with you are very important qualities and reminds to have while in such close quarters with everyone else on the trip.

Be ready to travel a lot. There is a lot of moving around, but it's extremely rewarding to be able to see al the things we saw and go all the places we went.
