My favorite part of the program was getting experience working a professional sporting event at the Sentry Tournament of Champions golf tournament in Kapalua. We were able to help out the tournament directors with set-up as well as anything needed during the tournament all week long. My favorite task was spotting golf balls for the Shot Link workers, as we got to be inside the ropes up close with the PGA golfers.

I loved getting to meet other students in the KU Sport Management Master's Program. We had an amazing group of people and it was a lot fun. The program is online so I had only met students before via Zoom. Similarly, because I am not on campus, I loved meeting all the students and professors. One of my favorite parts is that everyone had different personalities but we all worked together to successfully pull off an event.

The PGA Tour and Sentry Tournament of Champions staff were all very welcoming. I learned a ton from them about event operations.

Not only was working the Sentry Tournament of Champions a great experience for me and my network, but I got to meet and get to know other students on the trip well, which enhanced my experience in Hawaii but will also help me enhance my college experience back in Lawrence.

My favorite part of the trip was being able to see the behind-the-scenes of an actual PGA tour event and being so close to all of the golfers.

The elements of the program I found most rewarding were being able to help volunteer for the Sentry Tournament of Champions, meeting new students apart of my major, and lastly getting the opportunity to be in Maui for two weeks.

The most rewarding part of the trip was the relationships I made with the other students. I have so many more friends I will continue to spend time with.

The most rewarding part of this experience was working behind the scenes with PGA Tour and seeing the things that I put together on TV!

I worked in the tournament office responding to guest inquiries on the phone. We got to be part of a daily briefing for how the event operations were running. We also got to help with registration for the amateur event, the honorary observer process, inventory management, shipping for tournament prizes, and more. It was a really great look into event operations.

"You know an event is running smoothly because it is quiet. People are enjoying the tournament and your planning is successful."

The moment we took a picture with the tournament champion, Cameron Smith, was the most rewarding. As a group of college students it was rewarding to have such a big part of an event that is this big and means this much to the sport of golf and the players involved.

I found it rewarding to know that I did something to further my career.

Some things I learned on this program that would be helpful to future students is how the tournament was organized and set up. Another thing was when you spend two weeks with other students they will be 20 of your new friends not only there but you can continue those friendships when you get back to Lawrence. we also got to learn how to work with fans while there and learn how to ball spot, all things we would never be able to do if we were in Lawrence.

I learned what it takes to break into the sport industry and the value of the connections you make. Having a previous connection who was working at this tournament enhanced my experience by getting to meet him and for him to introduce me to another potentially big connection for my career.

Future students should know that you will make both memories and great friends when studying abroad.
