Culture & Psychology in London : Reviews (London)

My favorite part about this program was the group discussions that we had. We were able to experience cultures first hand, and then discuss with the class later that day or the next. These group discussions allowed me to formulate and voice my opinion about difficult topics. Furthermore, they helped form my perspective of the world through listening to other classmate's thoughts and perspectives.

I liked how every activity we engaged in, whether it was academic or simply going to dinner as a group, presented an opportunity to experience culture in some form. I also felt very welcome in our group and enjoyed hearing everyone's perspectives on our experiences and comparing them to my own.

I found the variety of experiences most rewarding. We got to experience so many parts of London, with a visit to so many subcultures within London. With all this, you get a deep dive into the history of the city and the depth of the arts, culture, music, etc. It's a very immersive two weeks.

I liked understanding my initial discomfort as a challenge zone, because it helped me understand that new experiences can be uncomfortable at first and still very rewarding. My initial resistance to certain experiences were not inherently bad, but something for me to reflect upon. Looking at my experience through this lens only made me want to try more new things!

This class isn't a standard structured class. Instead of learning through lectures, you learn through experience. So, what I learned is that the amount of learning that I have in this program is essentially up to me. In order to get the most out of the program, I had to reflect on my own time, talk to my classmates, and ask thoughtful questions.
