I greatly enjoyed getting to see all of the most relevant sites in Rome and Italy. I had a fantastic time abroad and I recommend this program to first time travelers and to people who want a very guided study abroad experience. I enjoyed having my instructor there because I was able to direct all of my technical questions to her and overall felt well taken care of and safe.

I thought the most rewarding part of the program was getting to see the historical architecture, art, and literature that i had been learning about throughout college. When I learn in an academic setting, I can try to understand how these things were built or created and the context in which they were intended. However, when I went to Rome and I got to see these things, I'm able to see the history and see the importance of them in their original context.

I would recommend knowing more than a little Italian so that you can be as polite as possible to everyone. I would also take as many notes as possible about the places and pictures you take. I took a lot of close-up pictures of things and later forgot what museum we were at that had the items I was interested in. This will also help with the assignments on return. If possible if you can take a video of the item you're most interested in stating the day, time, and the location and maybe the room you're in, this would have been very helpful to me.
