I relly enjoyed the host family experience as well as the interactive cultural experiences! You don't just observe the culture, you immerse into it. The Samba and Capoeria lessons were great! I loved going around the city with my family and friends and finding stuff to do and see.

My favorite part of this program was the people I was surrounded by. From my small Kansas family of eight other students, Professor Luciano, our teacher assistant Caio, the program director Clara Ramos, our bus driver Narcisso and even our door guy Ricardo. Everyone was absolutely amazing and truly made it feel like a family.

I found many elements of the program rewarding. It was nice meeting other students from around the us and building a relationship with them for 6 weeks. It was also rewarding to not only learn the Portuguese language but also learn about the history and culture of Salvador, Brazil.

I found it most rewarding that after six weeks in Brazil, I could already speak pretty good intermediate Portuguese with my host family, friends, locals, and teachers. I spoke zero Portuguese upon arrival, so that was super cool.

If you go through the Project GO program, it is a lot of class time and it is exhausting learning so much of a language in six weeks, but it is totally worth it in the end. You are also going to get more cultural, art and political knowledge than you ever expected.
