Geology in Greece: Natural Environment and Civilizations : Reviews (Athens)

My favorite part of this program was studying the complex geology unique only to Greece.

Because of the fact that it was a field course we were able to see a lot of really cool and interesting areas that most tourists and other people studying abroad would get the opportunity to see.

My favorite part of the program was how much of Greece we got to see. There was lots of traveling so we got to see so much of the country.

I really enjoyed getting to try different Greek foods and live in a place with different cultural norms than mine. I like how dining is a relaxed experience and it is common to go on walks by the sea after work. In addition, the craftsmanship of many of the vendors' wares in the shopping districts was incredible, I don't often see work produced with that level of expertise in the United States.

My favorite part of this program was the unique views and interesting samples we got to see and handle that we would never be able to see in Kansas

I really enjoyed when we all hopped into the vans and went out to the field. The beaches, the cities, the archeological sites, and the geological sites have been some of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.

At the end of the trip when we were recapping all of the things that we had learned it was very rewarding to see just how much information I learned over the span of our 3 week trip.

Being out in the field everyday was definitely the most rewarding part of the trip. You were able to see exactly what you were talking about, instead of only in a book.

Some of the elements I found rewarding were the fresh and healthy cuisine on the islands, and the stunning landscapes I saw every day around different cities.
Also, I felt very comfortable and safe knowing how well-organized the program was planned.

I found it very rewarding to learn so much about the geology of Greece, because now I can not only identify and describe in-depth the geologic features you see in Greece, I can also use this knowledge and apply it to the geology I see at home in the Midwest!

Be prepared to have your meal schedule change. Have a basic understanding of Greece's geology before you arrive.

Don't take anything for granted. It may be overwhelming at some points, but don't allow that to stop you from enjoying the experience.

Learn from my mistakes and learn some Greek before you go to Greece. English may be widely spoken and understood, but in the less touristy areas it is very likely you will find shopkeepers that do not speak English and/or the products in their stores may be printed entirely in Greek.
