My favorite part of this program was visiting Mundo Libre. To see how a program such as the one set up in this facility sparked an interest in exploring more of the options we have like it here in the United States.

My favorite part was being immersed in Peruvian culture and the amount we interacted with locals rather than visiting and moving around solely as tourists!

My favorite part of this program was probably the visit to Machu Picchu! It was such an amazing experience and I feel so lucky to have been able to visit one of the 7 wonders of the world on this trip.

The most rewarding element of this program was honestly the cultural immersion and learning so much about the history. I took Spanish here at KU and I would definitely recommend having some exposure in order to feel more comfortable on this trip. A large focus of the Spanish courses here at KU are the cultural aspects, hearing it all from a professor here, and actually visiting South America and seeing it all in action is inspiring and beautiful. There was also a decent amount of hiking/walking around in ruins, getting to the top of the hill between Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu was so rewarding-- just like the surreal views!

It was an honor to be able to observe and interact with the families at CASP, and their persistence and determination to the program was humbling to watch.

Visiting CASP was the most rewarding part of the trip, getting to learn firsthand how the students with different abilities are taught in Peru.

The most rewarding aspect of this program I feel was being able to visit and observe the Centro Ann Sullivan del Peru (CASP) and how they run their center on a daily basis. It really was helpful to see how a center for individuals with different abilities functions outside of the United States and I feel like it was extremely beneficial to show us as students different methods for teaching individuals with different abilities to prepare them to be independent members of society.

The most rewarding elements of this program were the love and generosity that I received from every member and student at CASP in exchange for my time.

It was incredible to observe at CASP and learn how their program is run. It would be very beneficial for Master's students to attend this.

Having some exposure to Spanish would definitely make you feel more comfortable in most environments. I would also say future students should take care of themselves before they leave for the trip. I started out a bit sick, and it was hard to get back to feeling well, especially when we arrived in Cusco, at a fairly high elevation. The best advice I can give would be to relax, go with the flow, and remain flexible, a lot can happen with all of the traveling, but staying organized and calm will only help the process along.

Throughout this program I learned a lot about different teaching strategies for individuals with a different range of abilities. The staff at CASP strives to involve the family in the education process and teach their students practical life skills that will prepare them to be independent members in society and contribute to their families and live lives of their own.

During this program, I learned that patience is a virtue. I was out of my comfort zone a lot but because of this I was able to open my mind and fully immerse myself into a completely new culture. This trip was such a unique, amazing and once in a lifetime opportunity that I am so glad I was able to experience.
