I loved the chance being able to get real time experience in the field that I am studying at KU.

The best part of the program was learning the differences between my customs and the traditional and modern customs of South Korea. Specifically how South Korea was affected after the Korean War, and the role of the United States in their rapid urbanization.

My favorite part about this program was not only the affordability, but the last opportunity to explore a new experience before starting my professional life. With this program leading into my final spring semester of my college education, I found this program to be the best option for me. I was able to not only grow as a a student, but a person. After this program was over, I found a new passion for international architecture. It was something I never planned to happen. I just happened unexpectedly.

Because of the length of time I spent in Korea, I was able to make quite a few friends from a language exchange meetup. I now have connections in multiple industries and friends to return to.

The most rewarding part of my study abroad was the many different points of view that I encountered while making life long friends.

The most rewarding part of this program was finding a new drive. A drive to pursue international architecture and to experience a new culture. Maybe even moving to Korea after I gain some experience in America and take that experience to Asia.

While it does get tedious to work nine hours a day sitting at a desk, it was a great experience to work with professionals and get feedback on real world projects.

The work experience before graduation gave me a better understanding about the profession. Because of this experience, I am able to make a solid career plan and have confidence to execute it.

From an academic point of view, definitely the invaluable experience I gained by being able to work in an architectural firm and learning the ropes of how a firm operates. From a personal point of view, the immersion of being in South Korea and being able to gain new insights into Korean culture was invaluable.

I believe that learning the language before they move to Korea would be very useful. I had an amazing time overall, but knowing the language would enhance the experience of being part of the culture and open a Pandora's Box of opportunity and engagement. When I return to Korea, I will make sure to have a good understanding of the language.

Learning basics of the language (in this case, learning to read hangul) is an incredible help. It may seem obvious, but showing respect to the culture and showing people you are interested in them helps so much. Obviously, the functional aspect of understanding what it is you are buying or where you are going is helpful, but people appreciate when foreigners make the effort (especially in a place like Korea, where it's not completely necessary, so foreigners tend to have a bad reputation).

Singapore is a city-state country with very strict laws. People there came from different countries and they are generally very nice and friendly. People I worked with was very warm hearted and they will help you to overcome the cultural shock and fit in everyday work/life.
