My favorite part of this program was printing our own book.

My absolute favorite part was being able to say that I was in Italy doing what I love. Not many people can say they have done that.

Working in the Tipoteca Italiana Museo. We created hand made books with Italian Print Masters in a beautiful letterpress Museum. The town it was in, Cornuda, was also beautiful.

My favorite part of the program was being able to learn not only new design skills, but how design is utilized on a global scale.

I liked that I was able to view different parts of Italy and do things that weren't just for tourists.

My favorite part of the trip was taking the cooking class and then getting to have a great dinner and eat the food we had helped make.

I found the cultural experience and the experience and knowledge I gained at the letterpress workshop to be the most rewarding.

Being taught from a Master Printer was pretty much the most rewarding experience. And I have a hand printed book to prove it!

I would say the experience itself is the most valuable thing. It is interesting that seeing and trying different things from your culture.

I found the constant exploration to be most rewarding. Having been my first time out of the country, I was eager to see as much as I could. We took several day trips to various cities that provided just the right amount of time to discover more about the culture.

I think meeting the teachers and leaders from Italy was nice because it felt like we were more immersed and a part of the culture.

The main goal of mine was to gather inspiration from the art we saw in museums, churches and the streets of Italy to refresh, renew and revitalize my creativity and design sense. I also wanted to become closer to my classmates and professors and create a personal, meaningful connection to the design school at KU. All of the visits to art museums and churches were incredibly valuable. They allowed me to fulfill a personal goal of seeing so much of the artwork I love in person.

I've always wanted to see Italy, and with this program I feel like I got to do it all. We got to see so many different things and places in such a short time and I feel lucky that I got to experience it all.

I felt that the most rewarding part of the trip was interacting with the items we saw in art history books. Being there in person was a totally different experience than just a regular class.

There was so much that I learned on this trip that was valuable. Getting to experience the culture of another country was rewarding, as well as being able to apply what I have learned in letterpress in design prior to this trip was very valuable.

No matter what happens on the trip, good or bad, take it all in and realize how lucky you are because most people will not be able to compete with the experience you had with your classmates.

As a graphic design student, I took part in using letterpress equipment and creating pieces with it in three days as opposed to an entire semester.

I learned the importance of being willing to embrace all experiences and never take a moment for granted because your time abroad goes so much quicker than you could imagine.

I learned that it's vital to be open-minded when you study abroad. Not everything in life goes according to plan and the same is true while studying abroad. Be flexible and accepting of other's ideas and fearless in wanting to soak up the culture around you. Three words. Explore. Explore. Explore. Try new things and meet new people.
