I enjoyed incorporating the culture of Sweden with the policies in place there.

I really enjoyed the appointments. Learning directly from the people that provide the health care or social services was very beneficial. They are so welcoming and happy to speak about what they do. Stockholm is an amazing city as well, expensive, but amazing.

My favorite part was exploring so many different parts of Stockholm. By the end, I felt like I understood health care and social welfare system, but also the geography of the city and the culture of the people in it.

My favorite part of the program was the interaction with all of the different health and social care representatives. The ability to ask them any questions about their system, and them having the knowledge to answer it, was priceless.

My favorite part of the program was the mixture of the culture and the education of healthcare throughout the entire program. Everyday and everything that we did was a learning experience. I learned so much living the experience than I would have ever learned from reading out of a book.

My favorite part about the program was meeting these professionals on the job and seeing how their healthcare system is so different from ours. It's fascinating and an experience I do not regret at all!

The different professional appointments gave a very comprehensive view of the Swedish Health Care system as well as the Social Welfare program and Sweden as a welfare state. It challenged a lot of pre-conceptions I had as well as opened my eyes to many new knowledge areas and experiences.

There is no single part of the program that jumps out at you simply because its all so amazing. The local sweds the study abroad program would have meetings with were often long time friends of the program and having that piece was invaluable. They were far more open about their options and Swedish culture than most normal sweds would likely have been.

I found the visits to the primary care clinics rewarding because they showed the initial stepping stone to the Swedish health care system. The celebration for Midsummer was also rewarding because of the Swedish culture we were able to experience.

It was very rewarding to dig so deeply into health care policy. From my trip to Sweden, I have a new perspective that I will take with me as I go to medical school.

The speakers were all very passionate about their work and it could be felt during the presentations.

The one-on-one conversations with the various healthcare professionals was the most rewarding experiences. We got to hear the good, the bad and the ugly from all different types of people. Also, the perceptions of the United States was very interesting to hear from people who are not native to the country.

The access to many different people within the social and health system really created a comprehensive view of the country's welfare system. Each of our professional appointments was a great learning experience and all presenters made the class feel welcome.

Finding out how similar the two cultures were was earth shattering in the most pleasant way possible. If you are outside looking in it's quite apparent that Sweden differs greatly from the US, but after a few lectures concerning Swedish history and culture (especially by Lindholm) my perspective changed on a lot of preconceived notions that I held prior to the trip.

I learned that to fully understand the policies and system in place in a country, one has to have knowledge of the history and culture of the country in question.

Swedes don't bring you your check with the meal-- you have to ask for it. We ended up staying at several restaurants for hours and hours after we were ready to leave before we realized this!

What would be helpful for future students to know about this program is that is beneficial to many people who are wanting to go into healthcare management and future physicians. Great eye opening experience for future policy, management and physicians. I learned that every healthcare system has it positives and negatives and to achieve the best system we must figure out to combine the best features of as many systems as possible to make them fit into one system. That would be an ideal state.
