Program Description:


Funding your Study Abroad Program

KU Study Abroad can do personalized financial aid and scholarship advising for students.  Please visit 108 Lippincott Hall or call 785-864-3742 to set up an appointment.  KU students who qualify for financial aid in the form of federal and/or other loans, federal grants, and KU or outside scholarships may apply the aid to the cost of a study abroad program.  
 
KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement Scholarships are available to KU degree-seeking students. Applications are available online. The scholarship application deadline is February 15 for Summer, March 1 for Fall and Academic Year programs, and October 1 for Spring, Winter Break, and Spring Break programs.

Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to complete several documents for each study abroad application.  Below is a list of documents that will need to be completed for an application.

        1. Authorization to Release Student Information
        2. Financial Aid Questionnaire
        3. One General Recommendation
        4. Statement of Purpose
        5. Student Conduct Verification
        6. Un-official Transcript or Advising Report
        7. Verification of Minimum GPA Requirement

It can be scary to put yourself out there and fully immerse yourself in the community abroad when the environment is so foreign and unfamiliar. However, if you can get through the mental block and just go for it, you will have some of the most memorable and rewarding experiences/interactions of your life. The teachers and staff at NSYSU are very helpful and supportive--reach out to them if you ever need any guidance!

Dont be afraid to ask and talk to locals. They not only offered help when perhaps in times of an emergency or question but also they tend to provide insight on the best locations, tips for the city, and lots more. Along with this hearing their personal story or their opinions on certain matters can be very interesting.

The people were by far my favorite part. Everyone of my teachers helped me so much by taking time to listen, speak with me after class, and even hold after class tutor sessions with those struggling. My roommates and friends on the trip were amazing and having a mini community like that abroad made me feel at home despite being on the other side of the world.
