Summer 2018 Participant
Research writing, literature review, questionnaire design, interview skills, and public speaking were just a few of the things that I learned during my internship. Simply being in China and a remarkable city like Xi'an can provide future students with a wealth of knowledge and unique set of experiences itself.

My favorite aspect of this program was getting the chance to collaborate with my Chinese co-workers and learn from their experiences. Their depth of knowledge on the issues that we focused on was very impressive and I am thankful to have played a small part in their work.

I found it rewarding to learn more about the research process and help the researchers in a small but significant way. Ultimately what I took away from this experience was the tools necessary to carry on with my own research, and hopefully I can take some of those skills and make a difference in the lives of others some day too. REAP and CEEE have illustrated for me what it takes to impact society on a large scale, and most importantly how integral research and policy change act as the mechanism for societal progress.
