Program Description:

The Kevin and Joann Nunnink Study Abroad Scholarship supports degree-seeking University of Kansas undergraduate students who want to participate in a study abroad experience. Applicants must be active members of the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center, which will be confirmed by KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement in outreach to the St. Lawrence Center. Awards range from $500 to $2,000.

The deadline to apply is March 1 for Summer programs; March 15 for Academic Year and Fall programs; and October 1 for Spring, Winter Break, and Spring Break programs.

Eligibility

  • Degree-seeking KU undergraduate
  • Active participant of St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center programs
  • Graduate of high school in metropolitan area with population under 75,000 in Kansas, Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, or Oklahoma
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Financial need as demonstrated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Started application through KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement for credit-bearing study abroad program
Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to submit the following documents:
 
  • A scholarship essay in which the applicant addresses why they have chosen to study abroad and what motivated them to choose their study abroad program.  Applicants should discuss how their chosen program will help them fulfill their academic, career, and personal goals. They should also note any extenuating circumstances that they would like the scholarship committee to consider, including financial hardship or other challenges, and describe their participation in St. Lawrence Center activities.
  • Unofficial transcript or advising report

Follow-Up Requirement
Scholarship recipients are expected to write a thank you letter.
