Program Description:

Funding your Study Abroad Program

KU Study Abroad can do personalized financial aid and scholarship advising for students. Please visit 108 Lippincott Hall or call 785-864-3742 to set up an appointment. KU students who qualify for financial aid in the form of Stafford and/or other loans, Federal Grants, and KU or outside scholarships may apply the aid to the cost of a study abroad program.

KU Study Abroad supplemental scholarships are available to KU degree seeking students. Applications are available online. The scholarship application deadline is March 1 for Summer, March 15th for Fall and Academic Year programs and October 1 for Spring, Winter Break and Spring Break programs.

Non-KU students should check into the financial resources available to them at their home institutions.

FLAS Summer Fellowships
Since this program meets all Department of Education requirements for intensive summer language programs, eligible students may use FLAS Summer Fellowships. For more information, please visit www.flas.ku.edu.

Every weekend I would go on a trip to a different city. I visited Chefchaouen, Rabat, Marrakech, the Sahara, and many more cities. While some trips were planned by the program, others trips were planned by the students. By far my favorite trip was when I visited Essouira and I walked in the very spot that Emilia Clark had walked on Game of Thrones. Not only did I see the location of the famous "dracarys" Game of Thrones scene, but I also galloped with a horse on the beach and I rode a 4-wheeler on the beach. Furthermore, I was finally getting comfortable using my language skills.

My favorite part of this program was getting to learn a new language and culture during the weekdays, and then practicing the language and planting ourselves into the culture during the weekends as we explored new cities.
