Program Description:


Each year, several Krehbiel German Summer Language Institute Scholarships are awarded to University of Kansas students participating in the German Summer Language Institute study abroad programs in Eutin and Holzkirchen, Germany. These scholarships are made possible through the generous contributions of Carl C. Krehbiel, who participated in the Holzkirchen program in 1968. One of the scholarships is awarded annually in memory of the late KU alumnus L. Neil Slentz, who was also a participant in the Holzkirchen program in 1968.


Scholarship awards are up to $5,000. The deadline to apply is March 1.
 

Eligibility

  • Degree-seeking KU undergraduate
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Started application through KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement for German Summer Language Institute in Eutin or Holzkirchen
Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to submit the following documents:
 
  • A scholarship essay in which the applicant explains why they have chosen to study in Germany. Applicants should discuss how their selected program will help them fulfill their academic, career, and personal goals. They should also discuss any extenuating circumstances that they would like the scholarship committee to consider, including financial hardship or other challenges.
  • Unofficial transcript or advising report
