Program Description:

The Drs. Dean T. and Elisabeth Collins Scholarship is designed to provide funding to deserving, degree-seeking students to study in Germany. It was the Collinses’ wish to provide dedicated students with the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of Germany, its people, and its culture while studying for a semester or year at a German institution of higher education. 

Scholarship awards are up to $10,000 for a semester and up to $20,000 for the year.
 
The deadline to apply is March 1 for Fall and Academic Year programs and October 1 for Spring programs.


Eligibility

  • Degree-seeking KU student
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Started application through KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement for eligible, credit-bearing study abroad program
Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to submit the following documents:
 
  • A scholarship essay in which the applicant explains why they have chosen to study in Germany. Applicants should discuss how their selected program will help them fulfill their academic, career, and personal goals. They should also discuss any extenuating circumstances that they would like the scholarship committee to consider, including financial hardship or other challenges.
  • Unofficial transcript or advising report

Follow-Up Requirement
Scholarship recipients are expected to write a thank you letter.
