Program Description:

The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS) provides scholarships of up to $2,000 to support the participation of University of Kansas students who are pursuing CLAS majors in study abroad programs.

CLAS offers both academic merit and financial need scholarships.  

  • Academic merit scholarships are competitive and awarded on the basis of academic merit as determined by a student's cumulative KU GPA
  • Financial need scholarships are competitive and awarded based on financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) submitted for the current academic year
The deadline to apply is March 1 for Summer programs; March 15 for Academic Year and Fall programs; and October 1 for Spring, Winter Break, and Spring Break programs. Scholarship notification will occur in mid-March for Summer programs; late March for Fall and Academic Year programs; and late October for Spring, Winter Break, and Spring Break programs.

Eligibility
 
  • Degree-seeking KU student pursuing CLAS major
  • Good academic standing
  • Started application through KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement for credit-bearing study abroad program
Application Procedures

All applicants will be required to submit the following documents:
  • A scholarship statement request in which the applicant explains why they selected their study abroad program and how it aligns with their studies
  • Unofficial transcript or advising report

Follow-Up Requirement

Scholarship recipients are expected to write a thank you letter.
