Denmark or Sweden - Non Architecture : Reviews (Copenhagen)

My favorite part about this program was the emphasis on community my leaders and advisors had. I was met with smiling faces as soon as I landed in my study abroad country, and they hosted many events on campus for us students to get to know each other.

My favorite part of the program was being able to try all of the local food through the class, Tasting Culture, that I took. The professors made sure the class was fun, as it's supposed to be, but also academically focused. I learned so much about how sociology, politics, and environmental factors shape what we eat.

I loved being in downtown Copenhagen and being able to walk to class through the city.

My favorite part of the program was learning how to properly design furniture for production. Learning the Danish process from start to finish was incredible. Then being able to put the skills to use in creating my own piece of furniture was an awesome experience. I could mix my designs with Scandinavian design principles to create a project that represented my experience abroad.

By studying in Copenhagen biking was naturally a major part of day to day life. Whether I was commuting to class, or exploring with friends bikes were the easiest and most natural way to go. By biking i was naturally immersed in the culture of the city making simple activities feel much more fun.

I found it most rewarding to be given the opportunity to get involved in new academic and extracurricular opportunities within the program and greater Copenhagen community. This helped me push myself outside of my comfort zone and grow in my confidence.

Each class I took made a great use of the city of Copenhagen as a field study. Getting out and about for class was a great way to learn and engage with the materials covered in class lectures or discussions making it easy to stay focused through out the day.

This program taught me that bias and narrow minded thoughts only hold you back from experiencing amazing activities and new cultures. Different teaching techniques will be encountered but keeping an open mind and shifting from your usual learning approach will allow you to take in all the content and come back to the U.S. with more knowledge.

I learned a lot about my major and since it is a broad one, it really helped me narrow down what I want to do in my future. Don't take the classes for granted as they are truly helpful in real world experience and not just memorizing vocabulary words.
